5 odd things that India loves in summer
Odd things? For us its normal act or a habit driven by emotion, motivation, pure joy and nothing else can replace it. But yes if an outsider reads it for the first time, it might sound bit odd. Garam Chai in 42 degrees, sleeping in front of cooler and still one leg needs blanket or Hot water bath. These are normal for us, isn’t it?

Garam kadak Chai – It’s not cold tea but an aromatic, refreshing and buzzing hot tea which we prefer to have every morning and during once during evening. It’s like time divider i:e first half and second half of the day begins with cup of tea. For office goers it’s the best afternoon break where everyone goes together to have a cup of tea.
Hot water bath – There are clearly 2 types of people, one who takes bath with cold bath irrespective whether it is Himachal Pradesh or Kerela and other one’s who will take bath with hot water irrespective whether it is Kashmir or Rajasthan. Both category folks follow it 365 days and changing water temperature feels like venturing new domain, adrenaline rush and sacrificing routine.
Blanket with AC on – Who does this? You are putting AC on to feel cool and at the same time taking blanket to feel warm. We do it J It’s like blanket has become an essential part of sleep and we don’t sleep without it. So, yes we need blanket. It is possible that we might keep one leg out or just cover our just one finger but we need it. My favorite is Solapur blanket. Best part is it last for more than 20 – 30 years easily so it has seen me from being a nursery going kid to a grown-up who purchased new house and ensures to carry the beloved blanket in the new house.
Spciy Thecha – No sauce or spread in the world can replace the spicy chili, garlic and salt chutney (thecha) for Indian and especially for Maharashtrians. In summer one is expected to eat cucumber, curd, etc but our food is incomplete without thecha.
Forgotten bottle in freezer – All Indian homes has that atleast one bottle which has expanded and forgotten in the freezer.

Comforters are often bulky and designed for extremely cold climates. They can feel too warm, stuffy, or uncomfortable during moderate winters.
Solapur blankets, on the other hand, are ideal because they provide:
Comfortable warmth without overheating
Breathable fabric for better sleep
Usability across multiple seasons
This makes them a far more practical choice for Indian homes.
